CITY OF TIPTON – CITY COUNCIL MEETING – October 7, 2026
The regular meeting of the Tipton City Council was held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday October 7, 2026 at City Hall. Those present were Mayor Jarrod Shivers, City Clerk Vanessa Tonne, City Superintendent Rod Barker and City Council members Ben Avery, Michael Ohnsat, Sara Dilley, Jessica Krier and Mark Towner.
Mayor Jarrod Shivers called the meeting to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Minutes from the September 9, 2026 meeting were reviewed and approved.
There were 8 late fees on utility bills and 0 letters sent.
The sales tax receipt for September was $5,583.76. Receipts for September were $31,914.20 and disbursements totaled $47,294.54.
The bills and receipts were reviewed and the general ledger was discussed. Mark Towner made the motion to pay bills; Ben Avery seconded the motion. Motion was carried.
Council member Mark Towner updated everyone on the plans for the new basketball/sports court at the city park. Plans are still in process, as a decision has not been made yet the material to use for the court. A local company has been contacted, but has mentioned that they are busy right now and unable to work on the concrete. A final decision was not made.
Jess Krier said that she has been asked if the city would install a TV in the fitness room. Funds are still available, so everyone was in favor of this request. The flag pole and flag that was ordered as been delivered, a decision was made to install the pole on the east side of the sports complex, on the SE corner of where the new grass area ends. With the heavy rains that hit the area, there was some flooding in the are by the cemetery and CVA. Rod Barker also mentioned that he called Circle B Services to help pump out a well, as the pump was unable to keep up with the heavy rains. The Tipton Trails will need some work, due to rising water in the creek there are areas that are washed out and debris is on the walking trail.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:15 pm. Next meeting date is Monday, November 2, 2026 at 7:30 pm.
