CITY OF TIPTON –SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING – Monday, October 16, 2023

A special meeting of the Tipton City Council was held at 7:30 p.m. Monday, October 16, 2023 at City Hall. The call for the meeting was a signed written request by City Council members Mark Towner, Ben Avery and Sara Dilley.  The object and purpose of the request was to approve the contract drawn up by City Attorney, Paul Gregory, for the purchase of real estate by the City of Tipton Kansas, Buyer from the Roman Catholic Diocese of Salina, Kansas, Seller.

Those present were Mayor-Jarrod Shivers, City Clerk Brigit Gasper, City Council members – Ben Avery, Mark Towner and Sara Dilley.  Council Members absent were Michael Ohnsat and Jessica Krier.

Mayor Jarrod Shivers called the meeting to order.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. 

The agenda was presented with the only agenda item being the approval of the contract for the purchase of lots from the Roman Catholic Diocese of Salina which was drawn up by City Attorney, Paul Gregory.

The object and purpose of this special meeting signed by Mark Towner, Ben Avery and Sara Dilley was presented and read by Brigit Gasper, City Clerk.  This meeting is to approve the contract for the purchase of real estate by the City of Tipton Kansas, Buyer from the Roman Catholic Diocese of Salina, Kansas, Seller.  Real estate is situated in Mitchell County, Kansas; Lots 1 and 12 in Block 48, in the Original Townsite of the City of Tipton, Kansas, together with the South Half of vacated Charles Street, North of said lots for the sum of Two Dollars ($2.00) to be paid by Buyer to Seller on or before the date of closing.  

Ben Avery made a motion to approve the contract and send to the seller, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Salina.  Mark Towner seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

This being the only agenda item, meeting adjourned at 7:35 pm.
